THINK BIG! Why do we meddle with the ordinary and mundane when there is SO MUCH MORE! In this video I talk about the difference between adoption of social media / social learning and addiction. It stems from a tweet by Gia Lyons of Jive Software and a TED.com talk by Benjamin Zander.

Re: Picture – When my children tell a lie they get soap in their mouths for as many minutes as they are years old. Thankfully, it rarely happens with 7 kids or we would run out of soap pretty quickly! When one of them is above the age of 10, it takes a toll on the bar of soap. Like the one at the beginning of the video. (And, no, they don’t actually swallow it…)

It is time to dive into video. I have always wanted to do it and am finally at a place where I can. Therefore, there are a few things that I have done.

These videos:

Are part of a new { #aft } series – “A Few Thoughts”. I gave it the #aft hashtag for Twitter use.

Are short and sweet – about 2 minutes in length – easy to digest.

Have one quick topic. Feel free to suggest topics.

Are not as frequent as every day, but not as seldom as once a week, either (There – I have committed myself).

Just to change things up, I have added a picture at the beginning. This first one I took at the Las Vegas airport. It says “Keep off red line.” But I read it as “Keep Red off line.” So I was trying to figure out why they wanted Red not to use the internet…? So to change things up, there will be a different pict there every video. What does it have to do with the video? Nothing. I know that isn’t the best of learning theory practice, but oh well. I had to add something on there besides my mug.

Are recorded in my office at home – at least most of them will be. If you hear piano in the background, just ignore it.

Are my first, and I am sure not my last, format of video. As with everything else I have no doubt it will evolve.

Will help me with my ‘public’ speaking. I do about one conference session or keynote or webinar or… a month. As always, I am trying to improve. Being in front of a camera is different than being in front of real people, but similar enough.

Twitter is a Boomerang – { #aft } from Kevin Jones on Vimeo.

(BTW – my Grandmother has always apologized for giving me uneven shoulders. I never saw it until now. Hmmmm. I wonder if I stand crooked as well.)
