What Will You Do When…

When someone puts up an offensive picture as their avatar, what will you do? How will you handle that?

Because it will happen – or something like it. Someone, at some point, will put something out there that most people with common sense would never do. And when it does happen, remember these things:

1. It RARELY happens.  So don’t let people take this opportunity as an “I told you so” because you can take the 10K other times as an “I told you so” back.
2. This may be a temporary lapse in judgment or it may be insight into something larger.  Your job is to find out which.
3. Letting the top level of the organization know that you have a plan when that happens will help them feel more secure and confident in you and your plan.

So plan for it, just don’t plan on it.
